Our Mission
HAVEN, formerly known as A Safe Place and SASS, officially merged in July of 2015, making it the largest violence prevention and support services agency in NH.
HAVEN is dedicated to addressing public health through violence prevention and providing services to improve the well-being of children and families. Preventing abuse and providing support for those impacted by domestic and sexual violence leads to healthier, more secure children and adults.
Our mission is to prevent sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking, and to support and empower all women, men, non-binary and transgender adults, youth and families to heal from abuse and rebuild their lives.
Our vision is to eliminate domestic and sexual violence through education, support and social change.

HAVEN serves Rockingham and Strafford counties, located on the traditional ancestral homeland of Pentucket, Pennacook, Abenaki and Wabanaki Peoples of past and present who were displaced through the 1713 Treaty of Portsmouth. We acknowledge and honor with gratitude the aki (land), nibi (water), and alnobak (people) who have stewarded the N’dakinna (homeland) throughout the generations and continue to be oppressed. While these tribes are not federally recognized, we believe in their right to sovereignty.
