Shelbie currently interns at HAVEN and is a senior at the University of New Hampshire, with a major in Human Development & Family Studies, and a minor in Sociology. Shelbie enjoys cats, reading, and drawing.
There are a variety of different ways you can get involved as a volunteer with HAVEN
Below is a list of volunteering opportunities:
Volunteer Advocate: provide support and information for those affected by sexual and domestic violence
Front Desk Volunteer: greet guests and walk-in clients & provide support for office tasks and projects
Outreach & Events Volunteer: spread the word about HAVEN at our local events
Board of Directors: apply your skills & help create a lasting impact on the clients we serve
HAVEN is always looking for interns & AmeriCorps Victim Assistance Program (AVAP) members.
In addition to donating your time, you can donate supplies for our clients and shelter, gift cards, or you can make a donation directly to HAVEN.
**If you don’t live in the areas that HAVEN serves, you can research your local domestic and sexual violence crisis agency to seek out volunteer opportunities. Donating your time with a local agency is not only empowering for you, but it also changes the lives of others**
SHARE! Share HAVEN’S information about sexual assault and our services via social media or word of mouth. The more we talk about sexual assault and how to get help, the more survivors we can reach. In addition to helping spread the word about HAVEN, you can help people worldwide by keeping this topic in the forefront globally, by keeping the #MeToo movement going. #MeToo has made an impact on those that have been affected by sexual assault, sexual violence, or sexual harassment. It has encouraged survivors to share their story. The more truths that are shared, the more people it will inspire to come forward with their stories. Together, we can, and we will stop sexual assault.
Let’s not forget our individual power. We are able to create enormous impact on those around us by embracing our own unique and powerful voice.
